Earlier this week, I officially launched my self-published mini book, "I Heart the Arctic".
It's a fully illustrated mini book inspired by arctic cultures, Inuit myth, and icy landscapes. I hand made each book on different paperstocks, from a cool grey cover, vellum insets, and a variety of icy white textured interior papers. Each book has a hand sewn spine, and is one in a limited edition of 50 books. I'm extra proud to say that since launching on Monday, I've sold / found homes for more than 3/4 of them! woohoo! To accompany the book, I designed fabric based on 2 of the illustrations from the book. One (the pink one) is based on one of the "arctic circles" (haha, i'm still laughing about this dumb pun) and the darker one is based on this feathered collage drawing. So from those fabric, above are sets of scandinavian inspired arctic heart ornaments, which are about 2" across at their widest, and are tied with red and white bakers twine. These little buddies TOOK ME FOREVER! my sewing fingers are tired.

And these guys are sewn and stuffed "arctic circles" which are kind of like little patterned doilies, which make me all warm and fuzzy inside.

More images, an official press release, bibliography, recent press, and stockist links and information are on the Arctic Site. Spread the word! I feel like a proud parent watching these books come together and get released into the world.
I hope you all are having a wonderful weekend! Hugs!
