Arctic Breeze for you Lovelies

Earlier this week, I officially launched my self-published mini book, "I Heart the Arctic".
It's a fully illustrated mini book inspired by arctic cultures, Inuit myth, and icy landscapes. I hand made each book on different paperstocks, from a cool grey cover, vellum insets, and a variety of icy white textured interior papers. Each book has a hand sewn spine, and is one in a limited edition of 50 books. I'm extra proud to say that since launching on Monday, I've sold / found homes for more than 3/4 of them! woohoo! (etsy link)

To accompany the book, I designed fabric based on 2 of the illustrations from the book. One (the pink one) is based on one of the "arctic circles" (haha, i'm still laughing about this dumb pun) and the darker one is based on this feathered collage drawing. So from those fabric, above are sets of scandinavian inspired arctic heart ornaments, which are about 2" across at their widest, and are tied with red and white bakers twine. These little buddies TOOK ME FOREVER! my sewing fingers are tired.

And these guys are sewn and stuffed "arctic circles" which are kind of like little patterned doilies, which make me all warm and fuzzy inside.

More images, an official press release, bibliography, recent press, and stockist links and information are on the Arctic Site. Spread the word! I feel like a proud parent watching these books come together and get released into the world.
I hope you all are having a wonderful weekend! Hugs!

the Drawing Center Viewing Program

I just applied to this online, it's a curated registry and they also help artists get exposure. I just wanted to let you guys know about it--it looks good!

http://www.drawingcenter.org/viewingprogram/submissions_guidelines.cfm

The Viewing Program is dedicated to aiding the development of and providing visibility for the work of emerging artists. We consider an emerging artist someone who is not currently well known in his or her field and whose work has not been widely exhibited or has been under-recognized. Artists who are not currently attending school and do not have New York gallery representation are eligible to submit a portfolio for consideration. Both U.S. and international artists are encouraged to apply. Only the works of living artists will be considered.

Show and Tell

Hey guys, Here are some pics from my show. The opening went really well, lots of people, wine and sweatiness. All things good at an opening. How are all your summers going?? Megan came by for a surprise visit to see Toronto and my show, SWEET! We hung out the next day and I brought her to some good food spots (of course, knowing me) and shopping places. Any of you feel like doing the same, my door is always open!!! I love surprises.

Greetings from Cape Cod!

Hi everybody, I'm finally getting back into the studio which is an unfinished bedroom in my house in the woods. I just painted the walls and floor white so I can get a fresh start. I sure do miss the noisey, smelly energy of New York and working alongside all of you!

I'm cracking under pressure.

I'm seeing double guys, double. I'm half-way through the new drawing. I really hope everything comes together in time for the show. The opening is August 6, ...BOOOO to all you lovely people being in other countries. How are things where you are? I want disco balls (Nick) and sunset pictures (Sarah) and thrift store finds (Megan) and illustrious illustrations (Jackie).... I don't know why each of those are so specific, but its the things that come to mind when I think of where you all are. Hope all is well!!!

yay!!!

This is so exciting! I'm going to take pics of my studio now with my disco ball! And tyler is still across from me...I'll even stalk other people's studios and take pictures when no one's looking. haha!
